I am a daily user (and a fan) of Vtiger and I have followed the development of how to produce Quotes and Invoice in Vtiger. Although I am impressed by the efforts put into this, the function is not ready yet to seriously integrate into a business.
I simple and flexible solution would be to be able to merge the Quotes/Invoice fields into a Word or RTF file. This way the user can easily design the Quotes/Inovice layout according to his/her wishes.
I would very much like to hear if someone can estimate the time it takes to make such a merge function.

a lot of work has been done into finalising the quote/invoice modules and this is good, but not yet fully working.
there will always be someone who has specific requests in layout or other matters and with this simple-to-integrate feature one would have a 100% working solution in no time.
let's discuss this and spread the message.

the merging is great and i don`t see the necessity why there is a merge functionality for leads, organisation, people and tickets but not for quotes and invoices. instead of merging you use a pdf generation script wich can not be edited without deeper php knowledge.
if you add ms-word merging for quotes and invoices, vtiger will become the ultimate crm in my opinion. i don`t know any other crm (open source or commercial) wich offer this.
you will be able to generate as much templates for invoices/quotes (in different languages for example) as you want and you will be able to edit it easily to fit your needs.

maybe you can told us why you have a merge function for nearly all sections in 5.02, except for invoices and quotes?
to customize the pdf generating script is very annoying. and it does not make any sense to have two separate scripts for the same procedure, in my opinion, especially because the merging is much better and easier to customize.
