More Administrative Options...

I would like to thank the vTiger developers and community for keeping this project alive. I really love vTiger, and want to see it continue to develop to be the best in the industry. I want to be able to mention the name vTiger, and people know what I am referring to. We have a ways to go, but I think we can get there.

What I would like to see in a new version of vTiger is some more administrative options.
Like it says to import more than 499 records at a time to speak with your administrator. There's no option to change that through a GUI. It all has to be done in code. This is fine for advanced users, but for novice administrators this would be a turn-off.
There should be a way for an administrator to edit the "announcements" of anyone.
I believe a site administrator should have the right to "share" anyone's calendar without having them to share it individually.
I was going to suggest being able to edit the drop down lists, but I just found where that's at.

This is all I can think of at the moment. I will list more as I remember them.

    i think that the 499 record limit is tied to a timeout somewhere. i have successfully imported 10,000 records into inventory, it did 499 at a chunk and about 45 minutes but it worked its way through.

    i think that everyone would like more abilities in sharing calendar views. it may be in the offing, but i am not sure.

    greatly appreciate the notice about the 499 limit. i didn't know that it was setup like that, and that being the case i think the documentation should reflect that ability so long as the server is set to handle it.

    yes, i find a great deal of people are interested in calendar options. also there needs to be an import/export for the calendar. this would allow syncing your thunderbird / other mail clients with vtiger. i would find this quite essential for those who are out in the field, and have only a few moments online per day and other people scheduling for them.

    suggestion: i would like to see more options with "editing" multiple records, or something that would allow navigation between records would be faster than having to go in and out of each record individually.

    why suggested: i imported a lot of leads and i forgot to set their "lead source" during import. this now leaves me with having to go individually to each lead and change his/her source. i tried doing this through phpmyadmin, but so far it's not any better trying there.

    that's not a problem. i am just trying to jump start the other topic where the community contributes ideas and a "work group" could vote some of those on to the community road map for the developers to decide on. i am hoping to save the developers some time in weeding through the forums all the time.

    suggestion: allow todo's to not have an end date. also allow for an end time.

    why suggested: this would allow you to add low priority items to your list without having to specify a non-realistic date / time to complete the task by.

    i would like to know why there is an email address for an account. i would think contact information of that nature would be in a contact. just a personal observation.

    products should be allowed to be assigned to customers (accounts) and then assigned the serial numbers of the product that was sent to them. this way we could track warranty and repairs. it seems i will be needing to create a module to track serial numbers separately from "products". i don't even understand why you would have a products section with a serial number. unless you want me to duplicate my product 200+ times per year to "track" the serial numbers. then the quantities would always be 1, so that would no longer work. it seems that wasn't well thought out. if anyone has some information in this area please let me know.

    hello,

    i would like to know if the last suggestion from js has been done or not. because i agree with him. i need to track all the products with serial numbers to know who has or had what product.

    it would be very helpful to have a category of products and then a list of elements of each category (with serial numbers).
