Office Plugin Installation Problem

I had the following prob during installation of vtigercrm-office-plugin-5.0.0.exe:

An MS error message popped up:
Severe: First call to RegDBCreateKeyEx failed

My System info:
MS Office 2002
Windows XP HE, SP 2

What does it exactly mean? What can be done in order to get a clean installation?

Word may still be open in the backgound
1. check the task manager for running word process
2. restart windows
3. try again
