Hi,
I am not sure how really file a bug for V5. So, I post it here:
I select an account and go into the edit mode. then, without leaving the edit mode, I click on the tab "More Information". A new browser window pops up and shows a foreign webpage.
PS: Is there a description on how to file a bug correctly?
Thanks

Dear Klaus,
Thanks for bringing out the issue.
Actually it is not a bug but an expected behaviour.
The foreign website that you are referring to is : www.alexa.com which displays the information of that particular account website like "Traffic Rankings", "Reach" and "Page Views".
In our future release we will be providing this feature in the detail view of Account too.
Hope this clarifies your query.
Do post your views on this for further clarifications if any. |

| What is the motivation behind such a function at the CRM system? Who of the CRM users could be interested in such information? |

This is a formal protest:
In general, people at this end of the world (Germany) are cautious about sending their personal and company information over the internet. They suspect that their information could be spyed. All major SW companies take care that the customer is assured that no information is collected without the acceptance of the end-user.
So, why do you send hidden data from vtiger to a company which I did not know up to now and which I do not want. This is not a basis of a trustful relationship.
So please not: I do not want you to send my (and my customers) data to any third party. Not for "customer care" nor for perfomance measurement nor for any other reason.
I recommended vtiger to my customers. If they will learn that there is a secret data transfer, I will loose their faith.
Please tell me how to remove this function and tell me also what your future policy will be in this respect.
Thank you for your kind respect of my free control over my private data in the net.

Put me down as one who does not believe unexpected, unwanted links to other sites is a feature.
As a plugin/addon to vtiger, such functionality may be welcome by some. It seems strange that this "feature" got introduced as part of the default distribution, even a beta.
If there are any other such links out, please carefully document them all and make apparent the purpose. Otherwise, yes, I believe the credibility of all contributors and the distribution as a whole suffers.
Can I bury in a few links if I will contribute code? I promise they will be quite enjoyed by all vtiger users ;~) |

I have to also agree with the previous posts.
Hidden and unexpected / unwanted code is unacceptable and will kill the credibility of vtiger and the whole project.
As an experienced CRM person working with a number of world leading products (salesforce.com and others), can you imagine if stuff like this happenned on one of those systems ? They would be all over the press and boards and be out of business very soon.
Good customer relationships & credibilty takes a long time to build and only a moment to lose. Something like this wont help.
PLEASE none of these "surprises" in V5.0.
I believe in vtiger and don't want to see the momentum killed.
Txs & regards,
JSas
