Hi,
I've been trying to avoid getting to grips with the "under the covers" stuff, as I am a one-man-band who has better things to do.
I had vTiger CRM 4.2 installed and wanted to try out Moodle.
Moodle also uses Apache server, MySQL and PHP. It's auto-install had problems because of vTiger having the Apache service set up.
Someone kindly helped over in Moodle-land and I am now using Xampp 2.3 to be my Apache service plus PHP and MySQL. But I have to shut it all down and then start up another Apache server if I then want to use vTiger.
It would be great to change the vTiger configuration so that it used the same xampp service and MySQL etc locally on my machine.
Can anyone tell me how to achieve that, please?
Thanks.

Good morning everyone,
well I see since I posted this thread last week 90 people have peeked at it but nobody has an answer. I have changed the title to make it slightly clearer what I am trying to achieve in the hope that someone will spot it that knows how to approach this one.
So let's ignore the Moodle aspect (for now).
Simply put, I have an existing vTiger CRM installation. I want it to stop using the Apache/MySQL/PHP that is in the c:\program files\vTiger subdirectory and move the database etc so that they now point to the ones that I want to consider as the server and database engine on my machine - that sits under c:\program files\Xampp (and I don't want to lose my current information as I do that).
I tried going into the settings / system configuration on my vTiger CRM setup but that just hangs, so I have no idea what is in there. And I don't see anything relevant in either these forums or the installation manual.
Does anyone have any clues?
My only thought so far is that if I took an export of the database, deleted the installation, re-installed (pointing at a new database location) and then re-imported the database contents that might achieve the aim. But I don't know the mechanics in MySQL for database export/import - nor do I know if what I dreamed up could work... or how to point vTiger at a different database location during install!
I suspect the problem is that most people either install it all without touching anything... and use it that way from then on... or people who know what they are doing install a production server and sort out this kind of thing. I have a sneaking worry that small one-man-bands don't mess with this stuff so nobody that knows so little about the technology has tried to move a database
Your collective thoughts would be much appreciated.
Regards,

Don, thanks for that! I had a quick read and it looks like it will get me in the right direction if not sorted... now I just need to squeeze some more time out of the day to try it.
