Dear Team,

All of us know that we have issues in the migration script that the MySQL Path not found in windows system. This new script will fix this issue, also a new option to modify the 4.2.3 database directly to 5.0 Beta. Please unzip this attached file under vtigerCRM root directory ie., parellel to index.php

In this new option(third option) please don't use the existing 4.2.3 database because this option will directly alter the db so that you could not revert the 4.2.3. so please create a new database and apply the dump of your 4.2.3 data into this new database and then run this migration (option 3).
After ran this migration you should change the configuration parameters in the config.inc.php file.

It is always recommeded that please take a backup ie., dump of your 4.2.3 and current (5.0beta) databases.
Please test this migration and let us know your suggestions and issues. Based on your feedback we will further improve this script.

Thanks & Regards
Mickie

Dear Team,

Here is the updated migration script which will handle the attachments. ie., read the file contents from database and write it as a file.
The file will be places like storage/2006/June/week2/Testfile.txt where as the structure of the file will be like storage/year/month/week_number
This year, month and week will be get based on the attachment created time. if you have created the attachment in 15th December 2005 then the file will be placed inside the storage/2005/December/week3/ folder.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Mickie

After failing a number of times for different reasons to sucessfully use the migration tools in vtiger5 could i suggest what seems to me to be a far simpler method for migrating people's data.

As most people whether on shared hosting or not will be able to export and import a mysql dump file to and from their database could the excellent vtiger team not create a standalone script (for windows and linux) run locally that will check and then correct a dump file from any previous version of vtiger to match a dump file from the latest version of vtiger (5 beta) obviously preserving and updating all data in the tables.

The user then has to simply restore the new dump file back into the database that is being used by the latest version of vtiger, to have all their data accessible again.

i look forward to your coments

Damian

Dear Damian,

In the migration process we have three options. About these three options i have explained in the following post.
http://blogs.vtiger.com/weblog_entry.php?p=26249#26249

Please look into this information and then please let me know if you cannot use these three options.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks & Regards
Mickie
