Does anyone know how to use salutation field in the reports. This field exist in Contacts and Potentials, but there is no chance to choose it in practise. When making reports we can use title instead, but not salutation.
What this field is created for then?

No idea which reports you mean. I did find some in v5 but nothing I could actually configure myself (without changing the code).
And "salutation" isn't explicitely labeled on the screens (meanrls there is no caption) but it's the Mr, Mrs etc combo in front of the first name.

Yes, I mean this combo in front the name. If it is present there the value assigned should be written to the database to the specified field. I took a look at the tables and it is present "salutation" field there but further this field is not used in any other part of code.
How to use this ( Mr, Mrs ) combo box for? If it has no sense how to hide/delete a field that is not used further?

Believe me or not - there are people and/or countries where a polite salutation is quite common. Like in Dear Mr. Smith.
There are even people out there who go as far as using somebody's academic title when addressing the person. And if you live in one of the countries of the former "Danube Monarchy" (I leave it to you to figure out what and where this is) you'd better make sure to use the person's professional title as well.
Above all that there are languages where you must use salutation, title and probably a separate letter salutation because of the grammatical changes depending on gender.
And to complete your confusion: A typical semi official letter between higher Austrian civil servants (MPs, bank managers...) would start:
Sehr geehrter Herr Praesident (High Justice, Chancellor, DDr. Prof.....), lieber Rudi ....
By the way - where do you live that you don't use salutations? |

Dear Roblaus,
You totally misunderstood my questions. My intention was find the way for using salutations field, but it is not clear how to get it via VT tools from the database.
We here in Poland perfectly know what the salutation is for and we are using it as often as necessary what I cannot say about the forum users habits following the most of the cases.
I think that’s enough for intention clarification, so get back to software features. I wrote in my forum case that there are two fields like “title” and “salutation” that could be used for storing and using salutation like you mentioned “Sehr geehrter Herr Praesident (High Justice, Chancellor, DDr. Prof.....), lieber” but I cannot find the way how to retrieve them into XLS reports that could be used like a base for printout mass mailings stickers. It might be that I didn’t express the case clearly enough, so you didn’t understand the point.
Now I think the question should be clear, so please do not explain what the salutation is, but share your expert knowledge and show me the way to choose this field in the reports.
I am looking forward to hear from you soon and I expect to get from you advanced technical remarks.
Kind regards,
Mr. Ryszard Piotr Filipkowski |

To finish this discussion I ask,
does anyone know how to add salutation field to create report module.
Now this field is not visible there, so XLS export file produced for mail mailing do not include salutation.
