Email Merged Fields Do not appear on template

Hi,

I created email templates by going to Settings/Communication Templates/Email Templates.

I selected the Available Merge Fields to include in the Email Body. However, when I try to send emails and select this template, the selected Merged Fields do not appear, it is blank.

Am I missing somothing when creating the template?
Do I need to install ActiveX?
