Hello,

It is late in my day and I am feeling tired but I am going to post what is happening on our system. If what I post is unclear or you have questions please let me know.

This was working last week but it does not appear to be working now.

We are trying to use the the Vtiger CRM document templates to create a merged document. But when we do this we are having several problems. First when I try to Open the document I am seeing on the web page the message "Error while processing mail merge operation" This starts winword in the background. but the merge is not performed.

If I try downloading and looking at the document that we are trying to merge it appears to be corrupted and is asking for information to connect to an old Contact management application we used.

If I try opening up this document again I am then getting a message telling me that that the MMtemplate.doc is in use, and the merge is not performed. The same results are happening on other machines as well.

I have tried creating a brand new document and I am getting the same results.

I have tried to look at the log files and I am not seeing anything in them that tells me what is going on.

OK I figured out that the problem that we were having wound up being a Data problem with the account record that we were trying to merge from. The billing address had a "CRLF" character in it and this was what was causing the problem.

With a little bit of prespective and some troubleshooting I was able to figure this out on my own.

Thanks, I had similar problems and this helped.

Another issue I found was that the Office plug-in can't handle single quotes (') in one of the fields. This leads to the same error message.

It's a great concept, but I guess the plug-in can use some additional finetuning... :wink:
