Folks,
The announcement is out .. usability is one of the major focus for next release. Myself and few others will be dedicatedly working on that along with other developers.
vtiger CRM users :
Please let us know the modules where you feel the UI is tough to use.. or even say, tough to understand. Send in your suggestions and other issues related to User Interface (UI). |

Hi Saint,
It is nice to hear that there is upcoming new version. Here is some usability issues:
Calendar:
- When quick adding call or meeting by clicking time in calendar view. After pressing save activity view is opened. In my opinion in this kind of quick adding next screen should be same calendar view.
Activities:
- When adding new event or task from activities view if "Due Date:" is empty is should automatically set same as starting date. Many times meetings and tasks are only hours so end date should be same than staring date. It takes too much effort if Due date needs to be set every time.
Home:
My Upcoming and Pending Activities (through xx.xx.xxxx)
- There should be possibility to change how many days it is showing.
- When someone have been adding me to some event it is only showing at group allocations. If there is meeting and I should be there in my opinion that meeting should be showing in my upcoming and pending activities.
Other issues:
- There should be possibility to change where currency symbol is located. With euro it is used like 1234 € (not € 1234)
- When server is in other timezone user should be able to select what is his timezone and that timezone information should be used when adding event etc.
Example: Now my server is in timezone GMT -7 (10:08) and I am in timezone +2 (19:09). When I now press "new event" default start time is (10:08) 9 hours wrong.
- Display name with email send by vtiger is now same that is username. We are using short usernames like "tis" and I would like to have display name shown as "Firstname Lastname".
- VAT should be automatically calculated in quotes and invoices.
- There should some easy way to change PDF template for reports, quotes, invoices etc.
- There should be possibility to add products which are out from product stock notifications e.g. when product are service hours.

A minor one in 4.2: there is no tabindex when adding a new lead, contact etc - this means that using the TAB to quickly fill in the form, it isn't very logical to enter details.
e.g.
First name TAB
Office Phone TAB
Last Name TAB
Mobile etc |

1: Listviews for all --
a. Sorting columns where columns are custom views.
b. Column sorting not dependent on url_string, but on an application function instead.
2: Details views --
a. Move the translation layer into the application logic rather than the display -- to allow additional fields to be added via the database without having to patch language files.
3: Misc --
a.Took me a while to figure out that the drag n drop tab ordering seems only to be friendly with IE -- and it didn't seem intuitive until I "got it." |

The whole "Add new" - bar is not compfortable at all!
i would suggest one big "Add New Entry"-Button inside every module. The top bar could then be transfered into a sidebox, from which the user can add entries to other modules than the current.
the sideboxes should not collapse, but instead (sugar-like) hide to the left. so Users with a small screen could use the whole screen.
At some other points a view over to sugar could help, since their usability is a lot better concerning their default theme. it kindof looks cleaner and better arranged, of course i don´t want a sugar copybut ith there would be similar theme it could get people easier over to us! |

wysiwyg
The wysiwyg should be switchable to on and off. And is for my means not needed for emails. (just fancy stuff which brings up probs..don´t need comic font with my customers :-) )
Emails
Send Emails as multipart, html or just plain text. if the wysiwyg is enabled the html would have to be tag-stripped for multipart .. might be a little work.
So i would just suggest a switch between html or plain text. with the html option enabling the editor.
Logs
have the ability to automaticly delete older logfiles or disable logging. f.ex. keep logs for the last 7 day´s.
Invoices
Add an own item to an invoice instead of having to choose one from existig products and definitly fix the tax issue so it will be automaticly put in or have an extra tax field for each item. |

| How is this thread related to the threads about two months ago where vTiger had asked for specific input on each module or which usability suggestions were made? Each discussion was closed, but no indication on what would be on the roadmap based on those discussions. Are we now adding to those discussions? |

1) Agreed with adding "Add new" button to every module ListView.
2) Move New entys menu to one small drop-down menu.
3) Ability to manage position of custom fields (to them somwere between standartfields). |

Hi!
Let me clarify. This is regarding the usability issue requirement. The previous one was for the feature/issues in 4.2 Patch2.
I agree there might be overlaps. In case they are different from the earlier posts, we will add to that list.
Please note, we have almost fixed all the issues reported in the Operation Consolidation process.

| yes guest and indigo you are right .. some of my issue´s are not really usability issue´s and could have been added somewhere else. I´ve been away for a while and did not look into those other topics, sorry .. |
