I have read all the posts concerning the "cannot conect to server" situation. What worked for me on a hosted server is this...

Some hosts use a diferent port for outgoing mail service. Mine used port 26 (check with your ISP). I configured the outgoing mail server under the Admin login as follows:

Server Name: myserver:26

I hope this helps...
