When making alterations / changes to a quotation it might be a good idea to have the system add the following to the end of the quotation number, thus it will be easier to track changes make.
If an existing quotation is being revised and the quote number is 555, then make the revised quote 555-1, this way the user knows it's the first revision on the quotation. If it is altered again this would become 555-2.
At present, any modifications come up with the same quote number, which can be confusing if they say go ahead on a job, that you have assigned 3 variations to, and they only give you the quote 555 number to work with.
* * current work around, may be to duplicate the quote, then edit it, which would give it a new number, however it would be nice if gave us the option, possibly even using a box to tick, saying create revision number for this quote.
Any feed back on this would be good. |
