Greetings!

We're an organization that's comparing Sugar and vTiger for implementation. I'm trying to pinpoint some of vTiger's strengths and make some determinations about its capabilities for presentation to the decision makers.

I've got a couple quick questions about vTiger.

- vTiger has a task/to-do system - seems fairly easy to use and tasks can be assigned to groups as well as individuals. Can this process be automated? I.E. - if a lead is entered, can a task to follow up be automatically created and assigned to a group? If not, how difficult would it be to write that addition? We have fairly easy access to programmers and would potentially do that in-house.

- Our Marketing guy is currently using Pardot. Pardot connects to Sugar already (and is the main reason someone picked Sugar as a starting point). Because of the advantages of vTiger, I'm trying to see if vTiger is a viable alternative. How similar is vTiger's structure to that of Sugar? How easy would it be to link Pardot into vTiger? If nobody has experience with this, at least let me know how vTiger's structure compares to that of Sugar's - and I'll contact Pardot directly regarding a connector.

- Does the outlook plugin archive all emails, or does it allow you to simply attach emails you deem pertinent to a proper contact or opportunity?

Thanks so much in advance for reading this post - if you can help with anything, that'd be so much appreciated. vTiger looks like a great platform and possibly a great fit for our organization. Looking forward to getting involved in the community if we go with vTiger!

Colin

Thanks for your efforts in pushing vtiger CRM for implementation.

Creating task to follow up when lead is created is quite simple to achieve. We had tried to provide such a customization w.r.t Trouble Ticket recently.
Kindly have a look at the discussion here:

We have not analyzed the integration with Pardot. We will be happy to provide you assistance in getting the integration as part of our
customization service and make it available as Open Source in case you agree.

You can select the mail in the Inbox and attach them to Contact from Outlook Plugin. We need to customize the behavior to attach the mail to Contact or Opportunity.

Prasad -

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. I like what I'm seeing of vTiger so far.

If we make the proper customizations to automate task creation, are those modifications update proof? Or will we have to re-do our customizations every time we upgrade?

If you had to pinpoint the number of people using vTiger around the world as a CRM solution, how many installations do you think are running?

Thanks once again. I appreciate the input! I'll definitely keep you updated as to our adoption of vTiger.

Does anyone have insight on this? I'm trying to get final details before I have to present on the pros of vTiger.

Thanks!

Prasad - in speaking with the Pardot people, they said if vTiger has the same API as Sugar, integrating with Pardot may not be difficult. Can you or someone else give me an idea of how vTiger's API relates to Sugar?

Thanks!

I'm a little disappointed with the lack of response from the vTiger community - that seems to be a positive with Sugar. I'm a potential client, someone who could do a rather custom integration of vTiger, but my simplest questions aren't being answered.

I realize the vTiger team may put priority on the customers who have paid service fees, but I don't even feel like I'm being treated as a potential customer here.

Is this typical?

Hi colinake,

Our team was busy over last couple of weeks in discussions and feature set development which made a drop in forum post responses. Sorry for that.

We currently have not made any comparision w.r.t Sugar API. Webservice API's is a planned feature in vtiger 5.1 which should make the 3rd party application easy to integrate.

Quote: I realize the vTiger team may put priority on the customers who have paid service fees, but I don't even feel like I'm being treated as a potential customer here.

Our dedicated support team focus more on providing support for customer who are using vtiger with business and have brought support. But rest of the team give more priority to the community support on forums and developer list.

If you need customization we will be glad to review it and take it forward. Kindly email us at services@vtiger.com

Regards,
Prasad
