Hi everyone,
a general question concerning the leads. A lead contains data which relate (a) to a person as well as (b) a company. By converting, (a) is shifted to a "contact", (b) is shifted to a account. Most important for this post is the e-mail of a lead. IMO, the email-address of a lead could be person-related (such as mike@foobar.com) or organisation-related (such as info@foobar.com). But which of these addresses are (by default according to the vTiger philosophy) to be put in the lead?
As an example, lets see how it may work out. If I use the person-related email (mike@foobar.com), this email will be a part of the organisation, after convertion. However, this is definitely wrong (since a company does not have a person-related email, but e.g. info@foobar.com)
The other way round: If I use the organisation-related address, this will be stored in the contact, too (again, after the conversion).
This finding is quite trivial. But it has serious implication for my work: If I do want to keep a crm_entity as a lead (-> do not want to convert it yet), and I do have both the person-related and the organisation-related email, I can not store both of them and still use the power of the conversion. Does not matter which email I put in the default email field of the lead, there is going to always a mistakes after conversion.
I hope I explained the problem well. If not, please give feedback.
How did you manage this? Did this problem come up by someone else?
Thanks in advance,
greetings from (at this moment) sunny Netherlands,
