Users lose chat functionality and can't log back in!!

I'm having a problem!
Running vtiger 5.0.3
Users are occasionally and randomly bumped off the chat room (in the sense that they are unable to send messages to the room or connect to it)!
Thereafter even by closing the chat window, logging out of vtiger, logging in again and opening chat window, they remain unable to log into the chat room!
What could be causing this?
