Hi,

i tried to install my vtiger 5.0.4 using Cpanel on my hosting server. i will like to know how do i do it?

Operating system: Linux
Kernel version: 2.6.18-53.1.21.el5
Machine Type: x86_64
Apache version: 1.3.41 (Unix)
PERL version: 5.8.8
Path to PERL: /usr/bin/perl
Path to sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
PHP version: 5.2.5
MySQL version: 4.1.22-standard
cPanel Build: 11.18.6-STABLE 24739
Theme: cPanel X v2.6.0

i have tried these steps
1) upload and unzip vtiger-5.0.4.tar.gz into /public_html
2) open browser "http://myaddress/vtigercrm
but i encountered
PHP 5.0.x or above is required. Your current PHP version is 4.4.8
Kindly upgrade the PHP installation, any try again!

i read up some stuff about need of editing .htaccess or adding a php.ini, but i have no clue on how do it. i need some guidance regarding this.

what other steps do i have to take? i remember reading something about changing file and folders permissions.

i have a backup db from my local machine, how do i import into this new vtiger on the hosted server? but my cpanel doesnt have phpmyadmin which i see some help installation mention.

Can anyone help me by providing a "idiot step-by-step guide to installation of Vtiger-5.0.4?

Under cpanel - Enhanced library scripts - php scripting

You set the current version of PHP either 4 or 5. Change it there to 5 and that should resolve your problem.
