hi,
i am from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. i stumbled across vtiger while searching for a program for my company to keep track of inventory and at the same time doing PO and invoices. since vtiger has more than what i ask for, i d/l and try it. i am quite happy with everything, until doing migration from one machine to the other... i encountered problems and that why i register myself and get into to the forum to look for help. does anyone in Australia host their vtiger online and how? own server or host elsewhere? what is a good solution that is simple for me, cause i am working in a small company and i dont want too much hazzle in doing all these.
thanks

Hi there C.S,
I've just put up a 5.0.3 vtiger onto my "mdwebhosting" domain, which is based in Melbourne too.
Their domains run with modern addon versions like php5.2.5 and mysql 5.0.45-community. While being modern can hurt a bit as you are ahead of the times, it can be easier than being behind the times!
For example, I tried installing vtiger onto a 1und1.de domain with php4.x and it was very tricky. Had to install on my local machine, then upload the resulting database direct to circumvent install problems. then the smtp refused to work. i spent about 20 hours trying to fix it, and gave up on vtiger...
More recently I installed the php5.2.x patched version of vtiger 5.0.3 on my new domain here in Aus and it installed and worked straight away. I then hacked away an annoying email "feature" as you can read about here.

I now have one happy biz owner (sole trader) in Germany, who logs into my .com.au domain as they are regularly on the move around Europe, who within 4 hours put in 20 accounts and appointments etc. the online aspect is the key!
anyway, post up some specific problems or pm me if you prefer to discuss further.
