Trying to login from outlook to vtiger server (5.0.3.), I got the Error while initializing the logfile, followed by enable to write the log file.
I discovered that the subfolder called data in the plugin folder (in my case it was C:\Program Files\vtiger\Outlook) that normally appears after a valid login, is not created.
I understand that something on my pc prevents the plugin to write these folders and files.
Already disabled firewalls and antivirus.
I already checked permissions and it seems to be ok. In addition to this, if I try manually to create folders and files, it works.

u r usin vista?! well...
open your "computer" select c drive, go to program (x86) folder

go into properties of the vtiger folder
remove the arrow of write protection
go on security and add YOURSELF to the profile. select your username and give yourself ALL RIGHTS!
apply the change and ok

start outlook with your installed plugin - voila it will work...

keep in mind that vista enforces strict rights. i like it. :) so ppl have to think about what they do.

I'm not using Vista, but winXP SP2 with Outlook 2003
I already had a look at permissions in the folders, BUT just to be sure I followed your suggestion step by step, but unfortunately without success.

What I do not understand is why if I create manually a folder or files, I have no problem, while the plugin seems unable to do it.

I'll be happy to receive any additional suggestions or comment you may have.

well, maybe your parent directory securtiy policy restricts that process to create new directories. last time i used xp was a couple of years ago, but afaik you have there security policies too and most (especially unter programs and such) are writeprotection enabled and only owner and system may access.

what happens (for testing purpose only) if you grant EVERYONE full access to the directory tree of the plugin install directory?

i doubt its missing freespace on the drive so it should be some security issue. have you a personal firewall running maybe restricts the process in any way?! have you tried disabling it for testing? maybe adding the plugin to the whitelist?

I tried to grant everyone full access to the folder and later to the whole disk, but no good news
No firewall
No disk space issue

I'm using Nokia software to synk outlook with cellphone, it works fine. could it cause any conflict?

not as far as i know. im using the nseries nokia software too. (for my n95 8gb) and have no issues so far.

well i have no idea anymore. maybe the devs may have some debug mode or log somewhere so you can see what is going wrong and where.
