I have reviewed the forums and my understanding is that multicurrency support is not going to be in 5.0.3. I think this is an important feature to have in vtiger. If you are based in UK (as I am) and trade with companies based in other european companies then the current situation is not good. If you add to that purchasing product from either other european countries or USA/non euro zone countries, then Vtiger is not a solution you can consider.
I would be willing to lead a working party to develop a functional spec for what we need in Vtiger. If we can then get some agreement on this, we can push on toward a technical spec of the changes need. At this point it's just coding...... :-)
I am happy to kick this off but I am unsure about the protocols and normal ways of working to do this piece of work. Do I just start it off and invite interested parties to contribute ?
Advice gratefully received.
All the best

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for coming forward to fine tune our currency support.
Currently we are supporting multi-currency on per user basis. The work flow is as given below:
1. Go to Settings -->Currencies --> Add Currencies (Currency Name, ISO Code, Symbol, Conversion rate, Active/Inactive)
PS: Currency conversion rate is very important field. Otherwise your reports will show wrong results.
2. Go to User details page and select the currency from Currency field.
3. Now, user can use the selected currency for his/her potentials, quotes, orders, and invoices.
4. When Admin creates a sales reports, amount will be shown in base currency.
Please do share your views on the current currency support. Also you can extend your development contributions directly to the vtiger core team as this is going to be a common requirement for all.
Regards,
Gopal |

Hi Gopal, Thanks for your comment. I understand the current level of multi-currency support and it is not sufficient. Each person in my organisation can provide quotes in any currency. We have at least three normally used currencies for quotes. Products are also priced in several currencies depending upon the supplier. The company operates bank accounts in several currencies. This is multicurrency support. What Vtiger has at the moment is not. Fundamentally VTiger must be modified to ensure that in every place a monetary value is held then the currency of that value must also be held. The selection of currency during reporting (and I include quotations here) may be optional and can default to the logonid's default currency but must be able to be selected.
The currency exchange rate table must also have a date within it (normally called the "effective date"). This is the date from which the particular exchange rate is effected.
These are big changes and will require designing at the functional level and then later at the technical level. This is what my posting wishes to promote. I am willing to lead this effort but I am not sure what the protocols are in getting together a team of volunteers to do this.
Hope this clarifies my position.
Best regards,
Anthony |
