I have created mail merge template for Accounts to create labels
"almost directly" from vTiger on DYMO labeler.
I don't understand why the merge function created the label fo Account as many times as the number of Contacts associated with the Account, so:
Account with one contact has one address label. OK
Account with three contacts has three address labels WRONG
Account with no contacts has one label. OK
How to prevent merge for each contact? I'M PRINTING LABEL FOR ACCOUNT AND NOT FOR CONTACTS.
Was this designed this way or is it an error?
Thanks,
Mike |

ok, there is one thing I didn't know:
One can create merge template for contact, and add for example company name that will be populated with coresponding account name.
That's really great!
But, when you create tempalte for Account, no matter if you select or not any values related to contact, it will produce result for all contacts.
it would be nice if this module would incorporate some more logic. So when the merge template does not include any fields related to contact it will not do "inner join"
Regards,

hi,
did you manage to solve the mail merge (too many contacts) problem?
we are also facing the same issue .... kind of would prefer if the merging can have a choice to choose the EXACT contact data to use
thks =) |

the only solution is the one I have mentioned in previous post - create mail merge for contact not account.
The select given contact and create label just one contact.
If you want one label without contact name, simply move your mail merge under contact - it will still work if you add Account info and run it under contact. |

hi thanks ...
i realised that the accounts and contacts linkage is very impt .. and actually, if this gets through to the developers, it should be as flexible as possible
one problem i found out was that although 1 ACCOUNT can have many contacts, but all the contacts must be individually added (i.e. no Selection function) ... so if 2 ACCOUNTS are both linked to 1 common contact person, that means I need to have 2 of the same person details ... doesn't make sense =) |
