Hi Folks,

I added a few features to the Thunderbird Extension:

- Search in Leads & Add email to Lead (http://forums.vtiger.com/viewtopic.php?t=15030)
- Emails are attached to Leads/Contacts with their original creation date (http://forums.vtiger.com/viewtopic.php?t=17266)
- Author and Recipient of emails are preserved
- CC and BCC Fields of emails are transfered to vtiger crm
- If an email is located in the "Sent" Folder of thunderbird, then the search field of the plugin is populated with the Receiver's-Address instead of the Sender's-Address

Installation:

replace the files "Lead.php" and "thunderbirdplugin.php" on the vtiger server with the ones in this archive. The files are located in the following directories:
vtigercrm/modules/Leads/Leads.php
vtigercrm/soap/thunderbirdplugin.php

Install the extended thunderbird extension on each client

The server scripts are backwards compatible, users with the default thunderbird extension can still operate.

Hi Davide,

I'm glad you like the modifications.

Thunderbird-extensions are basically javascript-code, so the source is already included in the xpi-file.

To extract the source you could do the following:
1) rename "vtigercrm-tbird-plugin-5.0.3_extended.xpi" to "vtigercrm-tbird-plugin-5.0.3_extended.zip"
2) unzip the file and locate vtiger.jar
3) rename "vtiger.jar" to "vtiger.zip" and unzip.

To translate to another language you could modify the .js and .xul files in a text-editor

I have a UTF-8 problem , my UTF messages are corrupted in plugin View and then they are corrupted inserted in vTiger . Where to search code so to change encoding ?

New versions of this advanced thunderbird client are now available on vtigerforge: http://forge.vtiger.com/projects/tbadvancedmail

The latest version 0.1.1 among other things also fixes the UTF-8 issue which was mentioned by savovski.

Feel free to post any comments, feature requests and bug reports to the project as I will try to add new features sooner or later.
