The forms for submitting vendors information are extremly poor. With this data it is almost impossible to use this feature at all. There is no possibility to have any contacts related to a vendor. Any possibility to settle ANY kind of classification. It is obvious that many companies has very many different type of suppliers for many different kind of products and services. Here exist no way to make any type of categorisation and follow up for orders.. All this comes together with the unrealistic product structure, with any kind of sub-categories. This is a real handicap within such a well done CRM as vTiger

I think the best way is use the same issues as account and contacts (I can't understand why don't use the same data).

My vendors have the same features as my clients.

IMHO, accounts shoudl have the chance to mark an account as vendor, client or both.

No this is the worst thing you can do. I suppose and wish that vTiger develop this module further to cover all procurement procedures. If you mix from now on apples with bananas you wil have a lot to do when this processes get improved. Purchasing activities are complete different as Selling activities so this would never be a solution to this subject.

Like Rasomu, many of my vendors (if not all) have the same features as clients. As a matter of fact quite a few of my vendors are also my customers so it is a waste of time to copy the information to keep all the ins and outs together. The only difference between a vendor as a vendor and as a customer is the contact. One is a sales person and the other is a buyer.

@downes. I could not understand your oposition. Your response/reaction was like someone bit you.

Can you elaborate a little more?

I agree that for many users this could be a compromise but not a solution. In our case we can not use it at all. If this is the proposed further development line what is the use to have such a Inventory Module. It makes the whole matter only confusing. I am not only talking about the accounts I am talking also about products. Within some other points it does not even exist the possibility to plan a meeting or a simple task concerning a particular product.
