Hello Team!
vtiger does not currently support the integration.
We are having a think on it here and will mostly go for it.
As I have posted elsewhere, we are trying to work with Asterisk@Home integration with vtiger.
Thanks,
Richie |

| Have you consider working with SIP technology and intergrating Xten or other free SIP softphones? |

This is something that I am very interested in too. Getting Asterisk to integrate with vTiger would be extremely useful, especially having the ability for CTI but also fax managemetn etc.
I am playing around with this combination at the moment, but due to the day job am not giving it as much time as I would like. If I make any breakthroughts I will be sure to post up. |

Hi,
Users need CTI - not PABX integration. Provide TAPI support so that you can integrate with ANY voice solution that supports this standard.
TAPI is a standard, it is simple, there is Open Source code available and it will deliver what all customers need - not just a subset who are using oen particular type of PABX. TAPI will allow dialling from vTiger, passing of data to allow for screen pops etc. Please, please do not pick a single path to follow but chose a standard such as TAPI integration.
Why do you think every other mainstream CRM supports TAPI rather than a specific PABX - becasue it is open - just like vTiger.

There are some cti applications - at least in most cell phones and netmeeting/skype - which can be triggert by a "<a href="callto:+phonenumber" >" link from the browser. Just a suggestion, but this could be a quick fix for such applications. Even if it's just half the way, as incoming calls will not be detected.

Hi,
I would suggest to make it an optional setting, where users can enable/disable/edit a link which will be wrapped around phone/fax numbers.
RFC 3966 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3966.html) describes uri for phone/fax numbers as tel: and fax: links, wheras netmeeting and skype are using the callto: scheme
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/netmeet/nm3_1l4o.asp
http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=108
I used the callto: link in wap applications - unfortunatly I don't know where I got this information from. (Maybe some specifications from Nokia or so).

You might also know this, so just to be complete: With
http://www.enum.at/index.php?id=479
you can invoke calls with asterisk from outlook and so on. Similiar to the above mentioned links, one colud set a registry key, e.g.
HKEY_USERS\[0..9]\Software\Classes\callto\shell\open\command "vtigertapicall.vbs %1"
which calls a vbs script or somethings that will invokes the siptapi program.
But this is just the way to call from vtiger - most people would expect that crm shows up also contact information of incoming calls.
