It would be good to see an asset management system and some more focus on the services model. I'm happy to do my part (where I can) and also put forward $200 USD towards Asset Management Development. It would be my preference to see this code integrated into the core product as I know there are plenty of people who would like the functionality.
If there is any interest, I can help generate all the fields we'd like to see for our business to help get started.
Assets could be setup like contacts for businesses and attached to an account. You could also sign trouble tickets to the Assets themselves. The fields should be reasonably comprehensive, but custom fields would be ok after the base info. I.E. I use a lot of SNMP and log all my SLA customers Usernames, we also need to move these assets around to different businesses (We provide coin operated Internet kiosks and Wireless Hotspots). We also provide support to larger networks in our town so it would serve multiple purposes.
To this date we're using EMCO Network Inventory http://www.emco.is but we don't really need that much functionality.
