I can not log into the demo site.
Is this the right user and password?
U: admin
P: admin

Hi vito,

For custpmer portal username and password are not admin,admin.
For logging in to the CP, just go to the vtigercrmdemo site and create a contact with emailid with Portal User as selected.
Now login to the CP with the created contact's emailid as username and password.
At first time when logging in to the CP please change your password.

please let us know for furtheir clarifications.

I have found an issue concerning customer portal.
I've created a contact and I logged in customer portal. Then I have deleted this contact but I still can log in with him. It's wierd :)

Ok, It must be that is has been a very long day. But I am not having any luck with this. Even have it running on my test server and getting the same results.

Infact as I am writing this I think I should not ask the question and just go home and get some sleep ... but I am a glutton for punishment.

1. I create a user, username -- portaluser
2. Firstname -- portal
3. lastname -- user
4. This users email address is -- portal@home.com
5. set the password -- portal
6. role -- administrator

How does this person log into the customer portal? With portal@home.com in username and password? Tried that and didnt work. Even tried all the others in different combinations.

Sorry im so stupid about this, but I just cant get it right.

In Customer Portal, We provide the login facility only to the contacts, not for users.

See once I go home and sleep on it, it makes sense now.

So this is only compatable with the 4.2 version at this time?

I am sorry. I forgot to mention the following details.
In 4.2 alpha ( http://www.vtiger.com/products/crm/alphacustomerportal ) you can login with contacts's email id as username and password.
But in the previous 4.0.1( http://vtiger.com/products/crm/customerportal ) version of CP you can login using the user's username and password.

In my case it would be better to have all "companies" get an autogenerated login account for the Customer Portal when it
is created.

The login username would be: email address
and password autogenerated to for example: XE2342

The first login would be to
1. insert their email address
2. An email sends an activation link or password to their email
3. They activate or log in with their password
4. On first login they aggree to a disclaimer


In the CP they can:
1. Add/Edit/*Delete Contacts information and company information
2. Submit inquiries from the product catalog
3. Trouble tickets
etc...

*Any action when they delete is only deactivated information that
the backend (vtiger) can still see and/or further choose to delete...
