When I try to do a mail merge with a contact I get this prompt (see attached jpeg) for 'Header Record Delimiters'.

Interestingly if the contact has an account attached then the prompt doesn't appear. But then the contact address details are deleted completely from the record.

Any ideas?

OK So I've found that (as posted before on these forums) its possible to do a mail merge to contacts with accounts.

However, if you add an account to a contact, the contact inherits the account address. Meaning a simple workaround isn't possible.

All of my contacts are individuals and therefore do not belong to accounts.

Has anyone encountered this before and does anyone know of any solution to this problem?

I've still not had any luck with this one. Despite upgrading my installation to 5.03 RC2. After a week of working on this we've come up against a wall.

If anyone can put me out of my misery it would be most appreciated...

So the problem is, after a little searching through the merge.php file in the contacts folder (with my IT guy), that the merge needs the contact to have an account for its database query. Otherwise it won't work.

Trouble is, I've got a load of contacts in my current database that are individuals - subscribers to a magazine. None of these will have parent accounts.

If I'm not going to give in I have two options:

1. Change the database query so it doesn't need a 'parent account' to perform the merge (I've been told this is the more difficult of the two options)

2. Add 'accounts' to each contact - but somehow avoid the address details overwriting the contacts address details. Automate the process so a default Account appears every time a new contact is created.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks in advance...
