Hi,

I would like to know if there is a possibility that vtiger can completely integrate with exchange and replace the mail client that our users currently utilise?

The vtiger interface would connect to the exchange server to create/update calendar entries as well as retrieving any mails that may be in the users inbox. This would require vtiger to update the exchange db as opposed to storing information in it's own db.

Our users currently utilise the outlook plugin but requires them to duplicate any work they do on vtiger into thei outlook calendar and vice versa.

Is there such a plugin atm?

Hi Ben,

I think the quick answer is no.

There is no integration with many of the Exchange features, such as the calendar, contacts or anything like that. However if you are purely interested on integrating your e-mail, you can configure Exchange Imap and vTiger does support that proctol. However I assume what you were looking for was a lot more than that, since you asked for "complete" integration. This would be a great feature considering that Exchange is now bundled even with the Microsoft SBS 2003 Std. Server, but I understand it would be very expensive to implement considering how many areas of the CRM it would require to modify.

I am not sure, I thought about also perhaps integrating it, or paying someone to do it, but it does seem like something that would be really expensive, so I am hoping the new vTiger release addresses most of the issues regarding usability of the webmail client, and then I would suggest to my clients they stop using OWA and only use vTiger.

It might be a good bounty project since I assume a lot of people might be able to use this.

Yeah, i agree but where should i start looking for ppl to firstly, quote for this type of development and secondly, to actually implement it?

I think there is a bounty thread here in the forums, you can probably post something there and we can see if it raises enough interest.

I am not savvy enough to discuss in detail how the bounty system works, but I assume people would quote based on the defined requirements and then the interested parties can sign up, and divide up the quoted price, if everone is interested
