Greetings Everybody!
Our company has a problem, using Russian characters in VTiger CRM 5.x

Test Conditions:
-Windows XP SP2 (several builds)
-VTiger CRM 5.x
-Apache 2.0.52
-PHP 5.1.2.2
-MySQL 5.0.19 (5.0.18 too)
-DB tables char set (and the def. DB char set) UTF-8
-I-Net browser Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.9-2.0.0.1, Opera 8-9

Here's the problem:
Test Case.
-Def. VTiger char set is UTF-8
-Def. lang. is English (standard)
-No lang. packs installed
-DB char set is latin1 (had not been changed since the installation)

Log in as Admin (lang = English)
Open "Accounts" page
Create An account
Enter Name in Russian.
Save the account

Now we have an account who's name contains about 25 Russian characters. Let it be "Владимир Владимирович Вот". When We open the list of accounts we see our "Владимир Владимирович Вот" as "Владимир Влади:?:".
This problem disappears after installing a language pack (the file is attached to the post) made with Language pack Wizard module (found here: http://forums.vtiger.com/viewtopic.php?t=12506) and converting DB into UTF-8, but there's another problem to turn up.

Test Case.
-Def. VTiger char set is UTF-8
-Def. lang. is English (standard)
-Russian lang. pack installed
-DB char set is utf-8

Login as Admin (lang=Russian)
Open "Accounts" page
Create An account
Enter Name in Russian.
Save the account

Now we see the account details form. Everything's going well until we try to edit information using the Edit link in the corner of every field (this is the quick edit feature). If we input more than 15 Russian characters into the "Name" field and press "Save" changes do not take effect on the DB. The new name is shown in the details form, but When we update the page the changes disappear.
The same problem may occur while using the full editing form, but the values should be longer. The problem concerns with all fields and each of them has it's own number of characters, that can be entered before it fails.
The most annoying thing is that there isn't any error warning. You may not even notice it.
-----------------------------------------
We think that somehow, the problem is concerned with the size of Russian characters. We don't have PHP developers or people that are familiar with AJAX technology, so we are asking for help.

We also suggest UNITING our efforts in making the VTiger CRM more widely distributed in Russia and other Russian speaking countries.

Such problems can prevent Russian clients from buying this software.

Попробуй запостить в основной форум по 5.0
Такая же проблема должна быть актуальна и для других языков

We experience exactly the same problem.
It is VERY annoying.

You never know if your data is safe ((
It's getting damaged all the time ((

Is there any fix available?
